Tangalooma Whales & Dolphins Information

Watch Whales Here!

The Australian Humpback Whale migration is adelight to watch. The whales migrate to warmer tropical waters from June to October. The migration of the whales through Moreton Bay/Tangalooma, gives whale watchers the chance to see whales close up and personal.

This is a truly unique experience with the whales. During whale watching season Moreton Bay is the ideal place to view the whales in their natural environment. Whales are often sited playing and enjoying the warm waters.

Moreton Island provides a unique venue for whale watching as it is the closest point from Brisbane and is central to the migration path of an increasing number of Humpback Whales.

Humpback whales are well known for their extremely acrobatic breaches. On the whale watch you may also observe pec slaps, tail slaps, spy hoops and the spectacular breaching behaviour that humpbacks are famous for.

You might also be lucky enough to see dolphins, turtles and a number of sea birds as part of our awe inspiring Whale Watch Cruises.

Feed Dolphins Here!

Tangalooma provides a unique venue for hand feeding dolphins all year round! Get up close and personal with the dolphin feeding.

The dolphins come to the beach every evening around 7pm in summer.

Tangalooma is actually one of very few places in the world where people can get close to dolphins in their natural habitat. Feeding takes place on the beaches at night.

The Bottlenose Dolphins lives in groups of up to 12. The species is commonly known for its friendly character and curiosity towards humans immersed in or near water. This is great for feeding dolphins in shallow waters.

Dolphin feeding is suitable for all ages and is a child friendly experience.
