Island activities
Tangalooma Island was originally a whaling base. It has since
closed down and become Brisbane's most popular tourist resort
based on the west side of Moreton
Island.
Tangalooma Island is positioned on Moreton Bay and is known
for thefantastic beach side resort accommodation. Tobbogoning
down sand dunes and scuba diving through man made shipwrecks
are popular activities.
The Tangalooma Island Resort is also famous for feeding wild
dolphins at night time. Pods of dolphins swim up to the beach
resort where guests can walk in to the shallow water and feed
them.
Moreton Island/ Tangalooma Island is only 1 hour by Large
Highspeed Catamaran or Ultra Modern Vehicular Barge from Brisbane
and offers a diverse wildness of almost 20,000 hectares.
Giant turtles, playful dolphins, graceful manta-rays and
carefree humans share in the peace, quiet and natural beauty
of this environmental wonderland. With 98% of the island declared
a national park this has become a destination for bush walkers,
campers, sailors and divers.
